Placement of Post Graduate Students

The department endeavours to get students placed in reputed Multinationals, Government Organizations, NGO's and private sector companies and also provides them guidance on qualifying/competitive examinations such as CSIR NET/SET/GATE/UPSC Geologist's Exam. It also organizes internships in reputed firms and institutes. The cell acts as an interface between the industry and the students, and primarily enables the students to select from their career options and introduce them with strong internship programs. The Placement Cell of the department is liaison with corporate organizations to provide suitable jobs and internship for the candidates completing their studies from the University. The department also conducts seminars to enable the students to become successful professionals.

Collaboration

The Department has a strong interaction with the government organizations such as Geological Survey of India, Groundwater Surveys and Development Agency, Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Central Ground Water Board, Central Water and Power Research Station, Agharkar Research Institute, CSIR-NGRI, National Remote Sensing Agency, Indian Space Research Organization, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, National Institute of Oceanography, IITM, ONGC, NCESS, Atomic Mineral Division to name a few.

It has also been associated with several non- government organizations such as AFARM, Hydrosphere, Advanced Center for Water Development and Management, Shram-shakti Foundation, WOTR, Urdhvam etc. It has a strong interaction with academic societies such as Geological Society of India, Indian Mineralogical Society- Mysore, Society of Geoinformatics - Japan, Gondwana Geological Society, Nagpur and Indian Society of Remote Sensing- Dehra Dun.

The Department has hosted a number of National and International seminars and workshops such as “Origin and Evolution of the Deep Continental Crust”, “Recent Trends in Geotechnology”, “Indian Geological Congress”, “The meets of the Indian Association of Sedimentologists”, “Winter school on Quaternary Geology and Climate Change” to name a few, in the recent past.
