Accessibility outreach and Sensitization program
The centre is spreading awareness about the special need of individual with disabilities to various stakeholders in government, non government and corporate organizations Specially the centre conduct awareness about the use of assistive technologies in academic institutions. So far the centre have conducted 225 + talks in academic institutions, government organizations, banks, software companies. And sensitized over 5000 people including teachers, teacher educaters, academic administraters, government officers, bank officers, corporate policy makers etc. We are implementing some schemes for benefit of students with disabilities and functionaries working for their education.

We are also helping other universities and colleges around to set up such support service centers for Students with disabilities by providing knowledge of rules and regulation, UGCs guidelines and government policy. We are providing assistance to North Maharashtra University, Shivaji university, Ferguson college, Vadiya college, ahamadnagar college, Nagar, Vidya wardhini college, Dhule MAAS New visions college to set up support service centers.
The centre has participated twice in the “career mohotsav” organized by University of Pune under “abhinav bharat scheme” Beside this the centre is also providing guidance to NGOs, parents of students with disabilities , researchers related to Students with disabilities and assistive technology product developers.
This scheme is initiated by our centre for the students who met with disability accidentally result of which they could not complete there education. We analyze Such cases and try to find their problems. Then their need is identified and courses are designed accordingly by our expertise. In such courses, they are trained to use assistive devices for independent working and after these special courses they are encouraged to continue their education. 50 people are rehabilitated by this scheme.
The scheme is initiated by university grants commission in 1998 under the ninth educational plan for creating awareness among teachers of integrated schools and colleges. We are implementing the schemes for our teachers by organizing teacher training programme, various seminars and workshops etc for school teachers and colleges of Pune university jurisdiction. We also provide special short term crash courses or part time courses to teachers according to their need. We conducted 15 seminars/awareness lectures for B.Ed. M.Ed. students, and college teachers in different colleges of education in university jurisdiction through which, we have reached more than 1000 teachers concern to education of people with disabilities and over 500 students of batchlers and masters in education. We are also organizing talk on inclusive education, assistive technology and academic accessibility for university teachers at Human resource development centre (HRDC) of Savitribai Phule Pune university. So far we have conducted more than 25 talks in various orientation programs, refresher programs of university faculties in Maharashtra and reach out more than 1500 teachers for awareness.
