Health Sciences conducts a Masters degree
(Full -time-two year four semesters). The course is complemented with
required duration of internship in Hospital dietetics department to offer
Practical support to the Theoretical Knowledge. The courses ail at
facilitating the understanding of the preventive, promotive and curative
role of diet in health care; enabling students to make appropriate dietary
modifications for various therapeutic conditions based on the
pathophysiology of the disease and imparting knowledge and skills for
effective diet counseling.
The curriculum comprises of theory as well as practical training. Theory
includes various courses on the nutritional requirements and dietary
modifications during the life cycle and various disease conditions.
Nutritional requirements for physical training and those of sportsmen are
also taken into account and studied. These in-depth studies are also taken
into account and studied. These in-depth studies are backed by the practical
component of the curriculum, which deals with the laboratory experiments,
dissertation and internship in a health care set up.
Duration: M.Sc. Health Sciences
Dietetics is a full-time course comprising of four Semesters (two-years)
under credit system.
Eligibility:
1. Graduate in Nutrition or Dietetics,
Science (any subject including biochemistry, microbiology or life science)
Degree in any branch of medicine, B.Pharm. of any statutory University or
recognized as equivalent there to by the University of Pune, with at least
50% marks.
2.Students who have completed their Postgraduate diploma in dietetics,
equivalent to the Post graduate diploma offered by the University of Pune
are eligible for the Fourth Semester in the Masters Programme.
Evaluation and Passing:
1. Each course Unit will have a written or practical examination of 60 marks
out of 100 marks.
2. Each Course Unit will have an internal assessment of 40 marks.
3. Passing in each unit with minimum 40 % marks in both written or practical
examination.
4. For getting qualified for M.Sc. Health Sciences (DIETETICS) every student
shall earn 100 credits of which
minimum 75 shall come from the core
