School of Public Health & Health Sciences
The Interdisciplinary School of Health Sciences offers post graduate courses in public health. Established through funding from the University Grants Commission in 1989, the School is the first institution in the country to offer a Master of Public Health programme supported by the UGC. In addition to the MPH, the School offers a MSc in Health Sciences and two PhD courses (PhD Public Health and Phd Health Sciences)
The School has a field-training area at the Kamshet Primary Health Centre situated one hour away from Pune city. This PHC provides on field understanding of sub-district level health system organizations, understanding the role of community health workers, disease control programmes, health promotion services, maternal and child health services and disease surveillance.
The School mentors students from all over the world, providing an understanding of public health and health services in developing countries, using India as an example.
