M.A.(Sociology) 2017-18

1.The advertisement for M.A. admission will display on the University website in the month of first or second week of June 2017.

2.Applications for the above course are required to apply online for admissions in the academic year 2017-18.

3.Please check the following link on the Savitribai Phule Pune University website to get the details of the admissions process. Campus.unipune.ac.in

4.After submission of their online application and payment of application fees students are required to submit a hard copy of the application form (submitted online earlier) along with photocopies of following relevant documents ( as applicable) to the Department’s office within four days of submission of their online applications.

5.List of required documents-
a. 10th & 12th Mark list photo copy
b. F.Y.B.A. /S.Y.B.A./T.Y.B.A. Mark list
c. Domicile Certificate (Wherever applicable)
d. Caste Certificate (Wherever applicable)
e. Non Creamy Layer Certificate (Wherever applicable)
f. Validity Certificate for ST students (Wherever applicable)

6.Please note that students may submit self attested photocopies of these documents and original documents will be checked only once their admission is finalized.

Euroculture M.A. programmeunder Erasmus Mundus

Department of Sociology, S.P.P.U. has an agreement with the consortium of various universities for Euroculture M.A. programme under Erasmus Mundus. The course is titled “Euroculture: Society, Politics and Culture in a Global Context” follow the Euroculture MA programme.


In this consortium following Universities from the European Union are members:

  • Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, The Netherlands

This specialized programme is open to a selected group of upto five ‘European Students’. The students are enrolled at the Department of Sociology in Savitribai Phule Pune University for one semester of 25 ECTS. The students get opportunity to get familiar with Indian scholarship and culture with an emphasis on how Indians perceive and have perceived Europe. The course comprises Research Track, Field Based Learning, Project Work, seminars and a course of free choice (ongoing MA courses). Every year students arrive at Savitribai Phule Pune University in August and attend classes and conduct research till November. Euroculture students are encouraged to learn through group work with students at Savitribai Phule Pune University and informal opportunities are provided to mix with the peer group and assimilate in Indian culture.
