Introduction
DIC- A link between SPPU Faculty, Spoke centers and Industry Partners
The SPPU faculties are actively working in the research area of chemical, physical, life sciences, social sciences, humanities and art. Because of the teaching and research contribution in the above areas, the university is recognized as the ‘University with Potential of Excellence by the UGC. The SPPU conducts number of courses for post-graduate programme in the area of basic sciences, social sciences, humanities, arts and languages. In addition, the SPPU conducts under-graduate programme in Biotechnology and Bio-informatics. There are number of certificate and diploma courses that are being conducted for under graduate studies. The students are provided with well-established Library, Sports, Hostel, Counseling cell, Reading hall and Health Centre facilities. This expertise along with the spoke centers will be exploited to established prototype development generated out of the research programmes. This will establish a strong link between industries and end-users.
Thus, with the active participation of University faculty and Spoke centers, various innovative ideas will be envisioned and executed leading to the development of more number of prototypes for the sustenance and continuation of DIC activities.

The SPPU is one of the largest universities in Maharashtra. It is spread over three districts namely Pune, Ahmednagar and Nasik with more than 660 affiliated colleges. This gives opportunity to the Savitribai Phule Pune University to act as a ‘HUB’ with ‘SPOKES’ at three centers at Ahmednagar, Nasik and Vigyan Ashram at Pabal for establishment of DIC, as mentioned below:

The DIC will prove to be instrumental in developing innovative ideas into prototypes. Initially the DIC will focus on the above thematic areas, but in future university will make it a sustainable efforts to nurture innovative proposals received from students, teachers and also from industries in collaboration.
The University hopes that DIC will be a continuing effort and will try to achieve the objectives of promoting a culture of Innovation.
