Course Structure

Basic Framework

The duration of Master of Design postgraduate degree program shall be of two years.

Overview at a Glance

At first year of post-graduation, students will be given the basic information design subjects as mentioned below. The topics include introduction to User experience design Mobility design, Visual Communication: still photography / studio / editing /sound / motion, Product design and development, Animation, Furniture design,History of Design etc with relevant exercises on these topics are included in studio sessions. They will also be introduced to proposal writing and presentation skills. Various workshops shall be planned along with regular modules.

At the second year under-graduation level,students shall have relevant practical experiments in field of Lifestyle and accessory design, Design Research, Form synthesis and design prototyping,industrial exposure (internship) etc. A proposal for pilot (minor) project and its implementation. Proposal for graduation (major) project and its completion in stipulated time.

Examination and Grading

The program is based on credit system and the examination process consists of two parts:continuous assessment (internal 40%) and end semester examination (External 60%). The internal assessment will consist of Class Room presentations and submissions of assignments (subjective/objective), Field Work, Viva-Voce, Home Assignments, studio work, etc. The grading will be as per the university norms applicable to credit system. End semester exams include written paper, pin-up jury and viva-voce and may vary according to subjects.

University Terms
Dates for commencement and conclusion for the first and second semesters will be declared by the University authorities. Terms can be kept by only duly admitted students. The term shall be granted only on minimum 75 percent attendance at theory and practical course and satisfactory performance during the term.

    Sessional Assignments: 100 marks (Internal) (Passing 40)
  4. Workshop and Experimental Practices (MDES104WEP) (3 credits)
    Sessional assignments: 75 marks (Internal) (Passing 30)

Summary of marks for semester 1: Theory exam (50+50) 100 marks + Viva 40 marks + Sessional (25+60+100+75+100) 360 = 500 marks
