BSc Blended

Course Structure

The Physics Program

Mentored and designed by University of Melbourne, IISER Tirupati and Savitribai Phule Pune University, Physics Program of Blended B. Sc. is well planned to prepare the students conceptually for a multidisciplinary approach and understanding for higher education in advanced sciences and research based courses. This course involves basic sciences such as chemistry, biology, environment science along with mathematics during the first two years. It has appropriate overlap of physics, chemistry, maths, biology, earth science and environment science. Which gives the opportunity to emphasize the impact of Physics conceptually as well as application point of view in each of the subject. This also gives the idea to students that how important it is to lean physics well to pursue the advanced multidisciplinary subjects. The Physics program covers broad range of topics from classical physics to quantum physics, concepts of optics, instrumentation, mathematical physics, thermal physics and modern physics, which not only give the idea of journey of physics over the years, but also introduces the students to current science and technology scenario.

The Biology Program

Mentored and designed by University of Melbourne, IISER Tirupati and Savitribai Phule Pune University the biology courses taught in the first two years of BSc Blended program offers a highly integrated and strong foundational training in biology for the students. In this course, complex topics like thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, microscopy etc which are taught in chemistry and physics are integrated with biological phenomena (eg: fundamental chemistry linked to how the biomacromolecules are formed and how they function in biological systems, fluid mechanics linked to circulatory system and transport processes in cells, optics and basics of microscopy taught in physics integrated with imaging techniques used to visualize cells, thermodynamics related to the dynamics of biomolecules and enzyme kinetics etc). Further, compared to the conventional BSc Biology courses which offers only topics related to a particular specialized subject, the Biology taught in the first two years of the blended program offers a broad range of topics ranging from evolution to population genetics to cell biology. The integrated training helps the students to understand the chemistry and physics behind the various biological processes and also helps the student to translate the fundamental sciences better and to build an interdisciplinary approach to science.
