Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL)


The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) is a flagship initiative set up by the NITI Aayog to promote innovation and entrepreneurship across the length and breadth of the country, based on a detailed study and deliberations on innovation and entrepreneurial needs of India in the years ahead.

The Ministry of HRD, GOI has launched national initiative for DIC in the twelfth plan. Under this initiative DIC has been established at SPPU, Pune since 15th April 2015. Some of the basic purposes of setting up ATL under DIC-SPPU are:

  • To promote a culture innovation and creative problem solving.

  • To promote knowledge sharing and collaboration among industry, academia, Government institute and research laboratories etc.

  • To create an ecosystem facilitating students and faculty to take their innovative ideas from classroom/labs to market/ people.

  • To serve as a place that imparts design based education and practice systematic design through projects.

  • To enhance interdisciplinary design focus innovation and creativity.

  • To facilitate evolution of new models of academia-social interactions and develop institutional network for innovations breakthroughs impacting quality of human life.

As core objectives of DIC and ATL lab resides on the same platform which is initiated by Government of India on this backgrounds PDEA managements wants to declare our intention to collaborate with our ATL schools namely;

       The Atal New India Challenge is an open call to design and demonstrate market-ready products based on cutting edge technologies in identified focus areas. Applicants showing capability, intend and promotion to be able to productize technologies will be awarded grants of up to 1 crore, strictly on a millstone basis.

Atal New India Challenge is an initiative by Atal Innovation Mission aimed at supporting innovators to create products/solutions based on advanced technologies in areas of national importance and social relevance through a grant-based mechanism. The vision of the Atal New India Challenge is two-fold;

(a) Help create products from existing technologies relevant for national and social causes

(b) Help new deep-tech products find markets and early customers (commercialization) in the context of India.
