Procedure of Starting and Functioning of a Centre
The Institution which is interested to run the
Centre, applies to the Board of Extra Mural
Studies. The Director visits the places which are
specifically mentioned in a resolution of the Board
and explains the nature and scope of the extramural
work at a public meeting or a discussion
group meeting. A Local Committee of five to
eleven members is set up by the Institution. The
Centre Co-ordinator is also appointed by the
institution for running the centre. All the
coordinator of the centres are called by the Board
of Extra- Mural Studies to prepare the panel of
speakers / lectures and the topics/subjects of the
lectures. The number of Centres identified and
approved by the Board of Extra- Mural Studies has
been increased year by year. The District wise
number of centres are shown in the following
Table No.1: the Number of Centres of EMS
