Welcome to Department of Sanskrit and Prakrit Languages

The Department of Sanskrit and Prakrit Languages Departments in the Savitribai Phule Pune University. It is established in 1949, headed by the world renowned indologist Dr. R. N. Dandekar and followed by world renowned grammarian Dr. S. D. Joshi. At the beginning Veda and Vyakarana were the fields of Specialization in the Department. Afterwards the Department is enriched by other branches like Vedanta, Nyaya, Mimamsa, Sahitya, and Sahityashastra etc. Vedanta, Nyaya, Mimamsa, Sahitya, and Sahityasastra etc.

Courses run by the Department

M. A. –Sanskrit and Prakrit ( Two years ).
M. PHIL.- Sanskrit and Prakrit.
PH. D.- Sanskrit and Prakrit.
CERTIFICATE COURSE – Sanskrit and Prakrit (One year)
LOWER DIPLOMA – Sanskrit and Prakrit (One years).
HIGHER DIPLOMA - Sanskrit and Prakrit (Three years).
