A one-day workshop on “Competencies of Librarians in the Era of AI” has been organized on 17 January 2026 by Pune University Library and Information Science Alumni Association (PULISAA), Department of Library and Information Science, Savitribai Phule Pune University. The programme was attended by over 54 participants. The workshop focused on the ethical and responsible use of AI in libraries, emphasizing transparency, privacy, bias, and professional accountability. Dr. Anand Kulkarni delivered the keynote address on the fundamentals and emerging concepts of AI relevant to librarianship. Practical demonstrations of AI tools for library services were conducted by Mr. Chetan Taksale. A session on prompt engineering by Mr. Anant Sabane highlighted effective interaction with AI systems. Participant feedback reflected the usefulness of the workshop and recommended conducting similar programmes regularly.
