The Department offers two main academic programmes
- Master of Library and Information Science (M.L.I.Sc.): The M.L.I.Sc. is a two-year integrated course that blends theoretical foundations with practical training in library management, information organization, ICT applications, and research methodology.
- Doctoral (Ph.D.) programme: The doctoral programme provides opportunities for advanced research in emerging areas such as digital libraries, open access, bibliometrics, digital humanities, research data management, artificial intelligence, knowledge organization,
etc.
The curriculum is regularly updated in line with the UGC model curriculum and the National Education Policy (NEP) to maintain academic relevance and quality. Teaching involves lectures, practical sessions, project work, and field visits to major libraries and information centres, ensuring students gain both conceptual understanding and professional experience.
