ABSTRACT Unveiling the Special Relativity ,Prof. Sunil Mukhi ,Theoretical Physics, TIFR

Einstein unveiled his Special Theory of Relativity in 1905. This changed forever our perception of space and time. In this talk I will informally review the experimental contradictions and theoretical proposals of that period, and the clear and powerful physical ideas that guided Einstein to his new theory. Later I will also touch upon the role and status of special relativity today. The talk will be addressed to a general audience.
