The Student Apprenticeship Programme

This initiative was started by the department since the academic year 2012-13 as one of the initiatives in the Perspective Plan for 2012-17. The intention behind the programme is that the students pursuing their post-graduation degree in the department would have a first-hand experience of the work they are likely to do after finishing their course. By participating in the programme, the students would get to know the skills and capabilities required to get a job using their knowledge base. Also, this will make the study of Politics a little more practice oriented and may enhance students’ interest in studying Politics.

This programme has facilitated the students to work in the media houses and NGOs for nearly fifteen days. Up to now, our students have worked in the media houses, such as Lokmat and Maharashtra Times; and NGOs such as Centre for Environment Education (CEE) and National Centre for Advocacy Studies (NCAS), both situated in Pune. Along with these, we are looking forward to send students in the government establishments and research institutes. Moreover, the programme is planned in such a manner that regular studies of the students are not disturbed.
